A days racing in the Lune Valley..... Racing first took place at Whittington in 1936. The setting for the course is idyllic in the heart of the Lune valley next to the river Lune. The horses jump 18 steeple chase style fences in the during the 3mile 2 furlong races. A large hill forms a natural amphitheatre from which alows viewing of the entire course. The course side car park is ideal for picnicking providing a excellent place to while away the afternoon with family and friends.
Dates for 2009
Vale of Lune 2pm Easter Saturday 11 of April The first of six races will start at 2 pm. It is advisable to arrive early to avoid congestion. There will also be a parade of the Vale of Lune hounds after the third race. Due to the success of pony racing in the 2008 meeting this will become a permanent feature on the race card. These races will take place at 1 o'clock preceding our normal racing line up which will commence at 2 as usual. More details>> Holcombe point to point Sunday 26th April. Holcombe meeting will have the added facility of a hospitality marquee. Racegoers will be treated to a champagne reception and a grand buffet lunch. Racing can be viewed from the executive enclosure.
