Pony races Vale of Lune Hunt point to point 1 pm
This year will see the addition of pony racing to the Vale of Lune meeting. The two races will take place over 5 furlongs on the flat and finish at the usual winning post. The intention of the races is to give the children a taste of racing and also try to generate new interest in point to point in this area. Pony racing is seen as very important for the future of racing in the UK and is proving very popular.
It will be essential for all participants to attend a briefing and course walk before racing.

1st Race The Novice Combination Race
For ponies 138cms and under and Riders, who since 1st December 2006, have not won or been placed second in either the Charles Owen Pony Racing Series or the Point-to-Point Racing series on this pony
2nd Race The Novice Combination Race
For ponies exceeding 138cms and not exceeding 148cms and Riders, who since 1st December 2006, have not won or been placed second in either the Charles Owen Pony Racing Series or the Point-to-Point Racing Series on this pony
The Pony races will be held at 1 o’clock but may be subject to time change in the event of bad weather

You will receive your rule book once you join, however we would like to draw your attention to the following:
For ponies measuring between 136cms & 138cms and 146cms & 148cms in height, a valid Joint Measurement Scheme Certificate (JMB) MUST be made available at declaration.All riders must be aged 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, or 15 on the day.
All riders and ponies entered must either / or combination of:
1. Have been out TOGETHER with a recognised pack of Hounds, Draghounds or Bloodhounds a minimum of 4 times in the current season, or
2. Have attended at least 4 Pony Club Working Rallies and be deemed sufficiently competent to take part in a competitive pony race by either the Hunt Master / Secretary or District Commissioner
